How to Download YouTube Shorts (MP4 & MP3)

To download a YouTube Short, copy the Short's link, paste it into a YouTube downloader, then pick MP4 to save the video or MP3 to save just the audio. That's the whole process — no app to install, and it works the same on a phone or a computer.

How it works (step by step)

  1. Open the Short in the YouTube app or on youtube.com.
  2. Tap Share → Copy link (mobile), or copy the URL from your browser's address bar (desktop). A Shorts link looks like youtube.com/shorts/XXXX.
  3. Paste the link into the box on WeSaveAll.
  4. Choose your format: MP4 for the full video, or MP3 for audio only.
  5. Tap Download and save the file to your device.

MP4 vs MP3 — which should you pick?

Both start from the same link; you're just choosing what to keep.

  • MP4 (video): Choose this when you want the actual Short — the visuals, captions on screen, and motion. Good for reposting to another platform, saving a tutorial, or keeping a clip offline.

On iPhone

Safari doesn't let sites save files directly, so use the Files app flow:

Common issues (and honest limits)

A few Shorts simply can't be saved, and it's worth knowing why up front:

  • Private or unlisted Shorts: If the video isn't public, no downloader can reach it. This is by design.
  • Age-restricted Shorts: These often require a signed-in session, so many tools will skip them.
  • Just-posted Shorts: A brand-new upload may still be processing. Wait a few minutes and try again.
  • Wrong link format: Make sure you copied the Short's own link (/shorts/...), not a channel or search URL.
  • Region-blocked content: Some Shorts are unavailable in certain countries and can't be pulled from there.

If a link fails, re-copy it straight from the Share menu rather than the browser bar — that usually fixes malformed links. Only download content you have the right to use, and always credit the original creator when you repost.
