How to Download & Save Facebook Stories
Facebook Stories vanish after 24 hours, so the trick to keeping one is grabbing it before the clock runs out. You can save any public Facebook Story — video or photo — for free in three steps: copy the story link (or the poster's profile link), paste it on wesaveall.com, then download the file. It all happens in your browser, with no app to install.
The three steps
The flow is identical on every device. Here it is in full.
Step 1: Copy the story link
- Open the Facebook Story you want to keep while it's still live.
- Tap the three dots (⋯) on the story, then choose Copy link.
- If the story doesn't offer a copy option, copy the profile link of the person who posted it instead — WeSaveAll can find the story from there.
You now have a link on your clipboard, something like https://www.facebook.com/stories/... or a plain profile URL.
Step 2: Paste it on WeSaveAll
- Go to the Facebook story downloader on wesaveall.com.
- Tap inside the paste bar and paste the link you just copied.

Step 3: Choose an item and save
- If the profile has more than one active story, pick the exact video or photo you're after.
- Choose the format — an MP4 for video stories, or a JPG/PNG for photo stories.

On Android
Android handles this the most smoothly. Open Chrome, Samsung Internet, or your default browser and run through the three steps above.
- When you tap Download, the file usually drops straight into your Downloads folder. A small banner appears at the top of the screen — tap it to open the story right away.
- Video stories also show up in your Gallery or Google Photos once the download finishes, ready to replay or reshare.
- If the browser asks you to confirm the download, just tap Download again.
On iPhone (iOS)
iOS is stricter about where files go, but it works fine in Safari (or Chrome for iPhone if you prefer).
- Copy the story or profile link and paste it on the Facebook story downloader exactly as above.
- When you tap Download, Safari may ask "Do you want to download...?" — tap Download to confirm.
- The file lands in the Files app under Downloads. Open Files → Browse → Downloads to find it.
Want a video story in your camera roll? Open it from the Files app, tap the Share icon, and choose Save Video — it moves into Photos next to your own clips. Photo stories can be saved the same way with Save Image.
On desktop
On a PC or Mac the whole thing takes seconds. Use Chrome, Safari, Edge, or Firefox — any modern browser works.
- Open the story in your browser and copy its link from the ⋯ menu, or copy the poster's profile URL from the address bar.
- Paste it on the tools hub and open the Facebook story tool, then hit Download.
- Pick the item and format you want. The file saves to your computer's Downloads folder, where you can rename it or move it wherever you like.
If the link turns out to point at a regular video or Reel rather than a story, the Facebook video downloader will handle it and let you choose an HD quality.
Being honest about what this does
A few things worth stating plainly so there are no surprises:
- This works with public stories only. If an account is private or the story is limited to friends, the content isn't accessible and can't be downloaded.
- The poster is not notified when you save their story — Facebook doesn't send any alert. That's exactly why it matters to be respectful about what you keep and what you do with it.
- Stories are temporary by design. Saving one is best for content you have a genuine reason to keep, like your own posts or something a friend asked you to hold onto.
FAQ
Does the person know I saved their story? No. Facebook does not notify anyone when you download or view-and-save a story through a browser tool. There's no "seen who saved" list.
Can I download private or friends-only stories? No. Only public stories are accessible. If the account is private, there's no way — and no right — to pull that content.
Can I save a photo story, not just video? Yes. Photo stories download as an image file (JPG or PNG) and video stories download as an MP4. Pick whichever the story actually is.
What if the story already expired? Once the 24-hour window closes, the story is gone from Facebook and can't be recovered. The only stories you can save are ones that are still live, so grab them while they're up.
